Prissy, preppy and driven, Willow was always top of the class. She worked hard to keep it that way, studying long hours, keeping to a rigid hygiene regime so she always looked her best. She had big dreams of going to uni and doing something great, though she was never quite sure what that was. Politics, most likely, except she always felt uncomfortable discussing them because her family were fierce Torie supporters. She had plenty of friends she socialised with in school, but it was the group of gamers where she actually felt like herself. For years, she wrote stories, including elaborate backstories for every character she played, and privately savoured every chance to delve deep into geeky worlds of fantasy. To that extent, she harboured a crush/envy for Nicky for the longest time, because he readily let everyone know about his interests, with no care how others viewed him.
Now:
Things didn't pan out for Willow. She got into a good university, sure, but she married straight after graduating and became pregnant soon after. With her husband's career soaring, she let herself be talked into becoming a stay at home mum. Now she has four children, ages six to twelve, a pampered life in London thanks to her husband, and a wide network of friends.
Except she can't connect with any of her children, she and her husband have barely-hidden affairs, and she hates all of her friends. She feels like she's trapped in an episode of Made in Chelsea - frankly, not even as a main character - and doesn't see a way out. Except, maybe, going to this reunion and never looking back.
Appearance:
Willow is the epitome of an Instagram Mom. Her hair is always clean, always pulled back in a braid more complicated than it's worth. She wears a very select range of beiges, greys and pastels, and almost entirely bought from designers like Poetry. Looking past the expensive upkeep, she's stretched thin: slight, washed out, with incredibly fine blonde hair, and a perpetual smile that never reaches her eyes.
Motivation:
Willow wants to feel like herself again, except she never really felt like herself in the first place. She's so accustomed to keeping things together for the sake of appearances, bleeds into everything she does. She can't even get sloppy drunk without thinking of how to turn it into an amusing anecdote to tell at her next dinner party.
